Google I/O, the search engine giant's annual developer conference kicked off with a keynote event?in San Francisco on Wednesday, where a whole bunch of new stuff was introduced:
- Nexus 7 tablet,?a 7-inch tablet powered by a Nvidia?Tegra 3 quad-core processor?that will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and come in 8GB ($199)?and 16GB versions ($249). You can order today, but it ships in mid-July.
- TheNexus Q, the?"first social streaming device of its kind," which streams your music and entertainment from the cloud to your home, or even to your friends who also have Android phones or tablets.
- Jelly Bean, the next version of the Android operating system, also known as Android 4.1. It's faster and introduces a number of useful new functions: offline voice, more powerful notifications, and a predictive search that gives you answers before you ask.
- Google Now, a Siri compeitor???powered by?Google Knowledge Graph?? which not only gives you answers, but provides images as well. ?
- Google co-founder?Sergey Brin turned up to introduce Google Glass via trio of base?jumpers who leaped?from a zeppelin?overhead while wearing Google Glass. It was pretty awesome.
In other news, big changes are coming to Apple's iTunes.?
Facebook reportedly fixed the worst parts of its mobile apps. Expect a speedier ride. Finally!?
