Finance professor sees Dow hitting 15,000

By NBC News staff

Wharton School finance professor Jeremy Siegel told CNBC Monday that he thinks the Dow will hit 15,000 by the end of next year, and 17,000 is now ?very, very attainable.?

Stocks have risen sharply since the Federal Reserve launched another aggressive bond-buying program to spur the economy last week.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said he will continue to boost the economy until he sees a convincing improvement in the economy that could deliver sustainable job creation.

One of the results of ?QE3,? the Fed?s third round of so-called ?quantitative easing,? is higher stock prices.

Indeed, stocks have risen for four consecutive months, boosted by expectations that the world?s central banks will keep interest rates low to stimulate their struggling economies.
